On March 8, 2024, International Women’s Day 2024, Ariana Grande released ‘eternal sunshine’, her seventh studio album. This album comes nearly four years after her last full-length project ‘Positions’ and is met with mixed responses as she has been in the news for some of her romantic behavior recently. This collection of songs seemingly feels like it could be a response to some of the comments made about her. This album, while short (35:26) packs a punch with songs that bend genre and span the emotions. Grande is well known for her iconic Mariah-like whistle tones. Surprisingly, we don’t get a ton of these notes on the album. The lead single from this project, ‘yes, and?’ insinuated that the album may be more in the world of dance music similar to recent projects like Beyoncé’s Renaissance (2022) and Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind (2022). The album, surprisingly only touches the edge of dance as a genre. All in all, eternal sunshine is a well-produced collection of songs that can definitely brighten up a day.
