During the summer of 2021, I spent 5 months on a Career Assignment with Apple’s Marcom LA design team. I used that time to lead concept and design across various lines of business as well as several campaigns and marketing initiatives.

As a designer with Apple’s Marcom LA Design Studio, I was often utilized to bring a creative point of view to a brief and then assist in bringing the brief to life. This assignment allowed me the opportunity to collaborate with multiple corporate teams to understand things like brand strategy, campaign production, and creative process while honing knowledge and skillsets pertaining to brand identity, creative presentation, and business acumen.

Creative Concepts

As a designer in the Audiobooks team, I led the Creative brainstorming efforts for a net new Audiobooks email design. I showcased numerous different motion samples to the wider creative team and was able to refine design based on feedback.

Email Design

Email Subject

Part of my pitch of the new design system included creating copy for the subject lines of the emails that are compelling and make the reader want to open the email and explore.

Hero Module

I took creative control in creating numbers hero modules to introduce the concept of pre-ordering new audio books. These concepts included general focus, genre focus, and author focus.

Explore Module

This module focused on showing the reader other offerings from either the same genre or author of the promoted content.

Device Module

Here the goal is to showcase the breadth of technology available to use for listening to your new audiobook. Showcasing additional hero product increases customer’s likelihood to stream cross-device.

Similarity Module

The final module of the email is to showcase authors similar to the promoted author. This increases exposure of similar authors and drives traffic to the store for additional purchases.

Organic Social Assets

In-Feed Posts

I was responsible for creating bespoke assets for key promoted audiobook titles. These assets were handed off to publishers and authors for use on their own channels and followed a uniform design system while remaining unique to each individual title.

In-Feed & Story

I was responsible for concepting what would later be part of a larger marketing initiative. The Apple Books team utilized my skills and knowledge in social to develop unique in-feed and story animations. A cross-functional partnership between creatives, in-house motion designers, and creative leadership were integral in the success and development of this content.
